They brought a thoughtful gift: a framed photo from our first meeting in the Netherlands last year, alongside a personal letter. Seeing that memory again, now here in China, meant a lot to me. ❤

In their letter, they shared how much they’ve learned through working with CJ and how ready they feel to take their next step. Reading those words was deeply rewarding.

Bart and Mathijn have extensive experience running Shopify stores. Now they’re putting that knowledge into Mercify.ai, an AI tool that helps sellers research niches and build Shopify stores, including design, product pages, and products from CJ. 💻

They showed me a live demo of the product they’ve been building. The steps they once had to figure out themselves are now steps they’re helping others take more easily.

This is something I love about entrepreneurship. You begin by learning to run your own business. You develop skills, understand customers, and discover problems worth solving. Those lessons can become the foundation for another business—and help someone else get started. 🌱

To everyone building today: pay attention to what you’re learning. A challenge you work through now may give you an idea you hadn’t imagined before. Seeing our clients grow in this way gives me fresh energy to keep building CJ.

We also talked about life beyond work. Both love sports and keep themselves in great shape. I admire the care they give to their health, interests, and personal growth. 💪

Our conversation went from working in Bali to China’s highest mountain. When I mentioned Mount Everest, they asked whether I would climb it! I said I’d need around a year to prepare and train. They were interested in the challenge themselves, so we wished them good luck. 😄
